President
Lindsay Schnarr
Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay Schnarr. I am a second year medical student and this year’s President of IPHSA. After being the IFCC Liaison last year I am really excited to have taken on the role of President. In my training to become a physician I have learned early on how important interprofessional care is. It is so crucial for students to learn about all the potential members of their patient’s healthcare team along with the roles they play in order to optimize patient care and health. This is why I believe that IPE is so important and at UofT we are so lucky to have an abundance of students studying almost every healthcare profession. I hope to help improve not just the academics of interprofessional care but also the areas of student interaction, community engagement and health policy. If you have any questions or suggestions about IPHSA or IPE in general feel free to contact me!

Melissa Bucking
Hi everyone! My name is Melissa Bucking, and I am one of the VP Externals this year. I am a 2nd year Naturopathic medical student at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. In my past educational experience at Western University, I studied the ins & outs of our complex health care system, the roles of vast array of health care professionals that service it, and how to create the best health outcomes for the patients that rely on it. Regardless of where you fit on the spectrum of healthcare professionals, the consensus is the same - we must all work together to achieve the best for our patients. This begins in our education and this is why I am a member of IPHSA.
So be curious and open - learn about what other healthcare professionals can do, be passionate about what you do, and remember we are all working to achieve the same goal! As VP External, I am working to keep you connected with these opportunities to meet and network with your fellow healthcare professionals. Please feel free to contact myself or John Michael with any questions, if you want to be a part of IPHSA, or if you would like us to spread the word about any other interprofessional events!

Jason Yung
Hi everyone! My name is Jason Yung, and I am the VP Finance and Senior Pharmacy Representative for IPHSA this year. I am currently a third year pharmacy student, with a past BMSc in Physiology from Western University. As a representative for the Faculty of Pharmacy, I hope to educate other professions on the pharmacist’s role to bridge gaps in knowledge, as our scope of practice is expanding across Canada. Through this initiative, I hope that we may have a better understanding of how pharmacists can contribute to the operations of healthcare teams. As such, I am passionate about IPE because it is through inter-disciplinary collaboration and mutual understanding of our roles that we may provide the best care to our patients. After attending both IPHSA and IPE events, I have learned how I (a future pharmacist) can complement the roles of other team members and form a greater network of allied health professionals. I am glad that I joined IPHSA as it has one of the most unique student bodies on campus. IPHSA is comprised of members from multiple professional schools, various backgrounds, and talents! I’m pleased to be serving you on IPHSA this year and look forward to a great year.
P.S. I like to play badminton and softball, make new friends, watch TV (far too many shows to list here!), and be a foodie. If you’re a foodie like me, please feel free to let me know which food joints are worth trying out! :)

Vice President Outreach
Julie Delcorde
Hi everyone! My name is Julie, and I am a second year dentistry student at the University of Toronto. As VP Outreach, I coordinate the Outreach subcommittee that seeks to promote healthcare awareness and educate our community about the roles that different professions play when providing interprofessional healthcare services, and how they can benefit from this integrated approach. We also seek to educate students about the diverse healthcare disciplines offered at the University of Toronto via seminars, career panels and workshops, giving students the opportunity to learn more about these diverse career paths, ask questions, and enjoy interactive activities based on each discipline. I love my role as VP Outreach as it gives me the opportunity to meet so many people, and learn more about how our different healthcare professions work together to help our community! Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in participating in any of the Outreach events, or if you would like to learn more!

Vice President Health Policy
Sarah Bastedo
Hello, my name is Sarah and I’m a second year nursing student. Prior to starting nursing school I worked for many years at Cancer Care Ontario leading planning and policy-related activities. As a nursing student I have now seen first-hand the impact of health policy on individual patients as well as the need for more changes in the policies that address health-related issues. I believe that we as health care providers need to ensure that our perspectives, knowledge, and voices are included in policy decision making.
