Hi all, this is Amy, your representative of IPHSA's Chiropractic faculty. As a rep it is important to create a constant flow of interprofessional communications between all IPHSA faculties and the Chiropractic faculty. During my term, I intend to remove as many barriers and increase as many opportunities and make as many exciting connections. As a dedicated IPHSA member, I hope to be a vibrant and resourceful member of this wonderful group and a contribution to the progression of interprofessional healthcare. I have a personal passion in the boundless potential of collaboration. We are in a constantly shifting society with an enormous need of better healthcare. I believe that better healthcare lies in interprofessional healthcare collaborations and would love to be in the forefront of this amazing shift! Among my IPE experiences, the healthcare team challenge was the most inspiring and valuable experience yet! I've left every meeting with the group embracing in the enthusiasm we all share and realizing how bright the future is with interprofessional healthcare collaborations. With IPHSA's rapid growth, there will be many more favourites experiences to come! A bit more about my story: my enthusiasm for collaborations originates from my passion for music and performing arts. A simple musical piece is an interplay between different parts. When these parts are combined, an amazing product of rich layers so sweet to the ears is produced. This quality cannot be achieved by a single part. Imagine if we can extrapolate this thought into interprofessional healthcare. I hope to connect with each and every one of you so that we can have ongoing and positive interprofessional healthcare conversations. Let's do this!

Thank you for showing an interest in IPHSA and taking the time to meet our team! My name is Michael and I am a third year chiropractic student at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). My hometown is Regina, SK and I am enjoying my time here in the big city. IPSHA has provided me an opportunity to gain invaluable experiences and meet amazing people. Being a CMCC representative has allowed me to promote chiropractic beyond its borders and emphasize the significance of interprofessional collaboration. By working together and learning about each other’s roles, we can better understand what each health profession can offer to the table. It has been shown that interprofessional collaboration leads to better health care delivery and patient satisfaction. It is important to network and by becoming a member of IPHSA or attending our events, it is a great way to do so!

Hi, I am Armita, a second year dental student. I am honored to be the IPE representative of my class of 1T8. I found this opportunity in my faculty as an amazing one to learn more about different professional programs and to learn how these programs can collaborate with each other under the same umbrella. My goal as the representative is to work closely with my classmates, represent my class during the meetings, and encourage them to participate in different IPE events to enhance their knowledge and to network with fellows from other faculties around the university. I see this as an important skill to have in order to be successful as a future dentist. I believe, all of us (health care professionals) have a similar goal which is to provide the best quality of care to our communities in every single aspect. This is only possible by networking with other faculty members through IPE and knowing how to collaborate with each other to provide the highest standard of care to our patients.
One of the interesting facts that you may find out about me is that I probably have one of the longest last names in the school which doesn't fit into the scantron!

Clare Sheasgreen
Prior to coming to the University of Toronto, I completed an honours degree at Queen’s University in Biology and Health Studies. In the summers between, I was lucky to work at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital as a Developmental Service Worker. Working in their “Spiral Garden” program meant working alongside nurses, personal support workers, occupational therapists, and artists of all kind, to provide outdoor arts therapy for children with different abilities. This experience made me realize how good of a fit nursing was for me, especially because it requires so much interprofessional work. So when I was accepted to UofT’s accelerated nursing program, it only made sense to join IPSHA. My first year with IPHSA has been a fantastic experience; from skating in Nathan Phillips Square to working with a group of other UofT students in social work, occupational therapy and medicine in the health mentor program. I look forward to continuing my work with IPSHA and hope that it continues to grow and support UofT students to be more efficient and inclusive practitioners.

Hi everyone! My name is Amy Derochie and I am the 2nd year student Occupational Therapy rep. Being on IPHSA has opened many doors for me and I continue to be passionate about working collaboratively on a team. If I have learned anything from last year on IPHSA and in OT, is that: it is important to be proud of your team and that collaboration can really save a patient's life. I truly believe that we are the future generation of healthcare and being a part of the change towards a more collaborative model is an amazing thing!
On a personal note: I am proud to be a student OT and I love sharing my ideas and my knowledge on this field. I used to be a competitive bowler, I have a niece and a nephew and I have the biggest sweet tooth!
Please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail if you have any questions about OT or IPHSA. Thank-you!

Welcome everyone! My name is Rana and I currently serve as the 3rd Year Pharmacy Rep. With the healthcare landscape changing vastly, I am excited to be at the forefront and bring about that positive change. Joining IPHSA has been such an enriching experience where I have not only learned about the role of other healthcare providers but also what pharmacists can bring to the interprofessional team. Being the future of the healthcare profession, it is very important that we all work together to better patient outcomes. Every profession is skilled in an area. Imagine what we could achieve if we pooled our resources.
I do have a life outside school and the realm of healthcare. I love to bake and I am an avid movie fan. Some might call my Hollywood knowledge borderline obsessive J

Hi everyone! My name is Jason Yung, and I am the VP Finance and 3rd Year Pharmacy Representative for IPHSA this year. I am currently a third year pharmacy student, with a past BMSc in Physiology from Western University. As a representative for the Faculty of Pharmacy, I hope to educate other professions on the pharmacist’s role to bridge gaps in knowledge, as our scope of practice is expanding across Canada. Through this initiative, I hope that we may have a better understanding of how pharmacists can contribute to the operations of healthcare teams. As such, I am passionate about IPE because it is through inter-disciplinary collaboration and mutual understanding of our roles that we may provide the best care to our patients. After attending both IPHSA and IPE events, I have learned how I (a future pharmacist) can complement the roles of other team members and form a greater network of allied health professionals. I am glad that I joined IPHSA as it has one of the most unique student bodies on campus. IPHSA is comprised of members from multiple professional schools, various backgrounds, and talents! I’m pleased to be serving you on IPHSA this year and look forward to a great year.
P.S. I like to play badminton and softball, make new friends, watch TV (far too many shows to list here!), and be a foodie. If you’re a foodie like me, please feel free to let me know which food joints are worth trying out! :)

My name is Will and I’m a second year physical therapy (PT) student at the University of Toronto. This is my second year as a PT Rep on the IPHSA committee. I pursued this position because I wanted to play a role in the continual growth of the IPE curriculum at the University of Toronto – a program that has helped revolutionize healthcare education in Canada. As an IPHSA committee member, we are well positioned to ensure efficient and effective dialogue between healthcare students and the Centre for IPE. Acting as PT Rep has solidified my appreciation for interdisciplinary collaboration as a means to aid professional development and achieve optimal patient-outcomes in practice. I’ve had an amazing experience in my involvement with IPHSA and highly recommend joining the team!
Outside of school, I enjoy rock climbing and any/all water-related sports and activities, although I am yet to try surfing – one day!

As the IPE rep for Physical Therapy at U of T, I hope to be a catalyst for engaging students in my program in interprofessional events and activities that will foster future collaboration between healthcare professionals, for the good of our patients. My passion for IPE stems from a desire to see patients treated as a whole, and I believe IPE is the medium through which this can happen. My favorite IPE experience thus far has been the Movember IPE event, and the opportunity to be educated on men's health.
A random fact about myself; I love reading, and my favorite author of all time is Clive Staples (CS) Lewis.

Dakota Warkentin
Hello! My name is Dakota and I am currently in my second year of the Physician Assistant program at U of T. I am from Thunder Bay and received my HBSc. Biology from Lakehead University. I love being a part of IPHSA because I feel that groups and organizations like this are important for the future of patient care. Interprofessional healthcare teams provide patients with well-rounded care, making it important for different health professionals to understand each other’s roles. Groups like IPHSA allow for this understanding and give students the opportunity to learn from each other so they can provide the best care possible in the future!
Random Fact: I was previously a competitive figure skater and applied to Disney on Ice but decided to pursue my goal of becoming a Physician Assistant instead.

My interest in SLP stems from the combination of medical rehabilitation and counselling, in addition to having the opportunity to interact with a variety of client populations and healthcare professionals. I pursued this role on IPHSA because I am very passionate about interprofessional education and collaboration, and getting involved with IPHSA has allowed me to meet many amazing peers while learning more about other healthcare professions. Being a part of IPHSA has also enabled me to explore the roles of collaborative
practitioners in order to provide optimal client-centred care. I look forward to integrating and applying the knowledge that I have gained to better prepare for professional practice and to pursue my desire to help my clients/patients reach their potential.

Tiffany Tsui
Hi, my name is Tiffany Tsui and I am one of the Year 1 Speech-Language Pathology Representatives at UofT. I completed my undergraduate degree in Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. It was here that I first developed a passion for an intersectional approach to health. I believe that health is truly an interdisciplinary concept that draws on many bodies of knowledge. I joined IPHSA to help build platforms for students to begin thinking collaboratively so that they can be informed and prepared to work in partnership with other health professionals in their future practice. One fun fact about me is that I have been dancing since the age of 4. Dance has always been an integral part of my life, so don’t be surprised if you see me doing a little dance everywhere I go!

I have been on the IPHSA committee for 2 years and I have interacted and met amazing individuals throughout my position. During my first year on IPHSA, I had the pleasure to participate in the Trillium’ Gift of Life Campaign for Organ Donation. My team and I had gathered people from all over Toronto that have received an Organ, known someone who has, or is still waiting for an Organ Donor. We created a YouTube video, titled “Dear Donor” to raise awareness and educate the public about the Campaign. It was a very unique experience and I couldn’t have known about it if it wasn’t for my position on IPHSA.

Being a member of IPHSA has been interesting in that I get to learn all about different health professions in a relaxed and friendly environment. Collaboration is extremely important in our careers so being a part of this group is great practice for when we all enter the workforce! I look forward to see what IPSHA is going to bring forth in the future. Outside of school, I love hanging out with friends and enjoying a night in watching some Netflix. I am originally from Northern Ontario so any snow activity sounds like fun to me!
