Health Policy
Are you interested in learning more about health policy and having the opportunity to work with a group of interprofessional students to drive change in current health care/education related issues? Have you always wondered what it takes to develop a position statement and recommend a well researched course of action that reflects your concern? By being involved in the health policy committee, you will gain valuable policy experience which all employers look for when entering the dynamic, ever-changing field of health care. The committee will be led by IPHSA’s VP of Health Policy and is a recognized interprofessional activity that will be been approved for IPE credit.
Health Policy Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
Time commitment: meet once a month for two hours (in person or over Skype) more frequent meetings may be needed ramping up to an event. Students must attend 80% of all meetings and electives to be eligible for IPE credit.
Health Policy Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
- Attend agreed upon meeting dates
- Contribute by generating ideas for keynote speakers, and position statements
- Work together to help develop position statements (1-2/year)
- Link with members of own faculty or other health professional/policy programs to recruit keynote speakers
- Provide administrative support as needed

Outreach
Are you passionate about working on interdisciplinary teams and promoting healthcare awareness in the community through workshops, lectures, and seminars? If so, then you should apply to be a member of the Inter-Professional Health Student Association (IPHSA) Outreach committee! This is a great chance to represent your healthcare profession, practice your public speaking skills, and network with many other like-minded students in the other training programs at the University of Toronto. The committee will be led by IPHSA’s VP Outreach and is a recognized interprofessional activity that will be approved for IPE credits.
Outreach Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
Time Commitment: Meet once a month for up to two hours (in person or on Skype). More frequent meetings may be required leading up to an event, and members are expected to attend meetings and events for their membership to qualify for IPE credit.

Outreach Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
- Successful candidates will work closely with the VP Outreach to plan, coordinate, and promote the various Outreach events planned during the academic year.
- Attend the meetings that are agreed upon as a group.
- Provide administrative support as needed, and work together with other subcommittee members and the VP Outreach as a collaborative team.
- Promote IPHSA with and beyond the community through education events, such as high school outreach program, community awareness campaigns, etc.

Social
Do you want to meet and/or network with students in the 13 health professions represented by IPHSA and do you feel that fun and relaxed settings are a great way to get to know other students? If yes, then what are you waiting for!? Come apply to be a member of the IPHSA Social Committee!
The committee will be led by IPHSA’s VP Social and is a recognized interprofessional activity that will be approved for IPE credits.
Social Committee Member Role Description & Expectations:
Time Commitment: Meet once a month for one hour (via Skype or in person). More frequent meetings may be required by the entire group or one-on-one with the VP Social closer to event dates. Students are expected to attend meetings + the social events to be eligible for the IPE credit.
The committee will be led by IPHSA’s VP Social and is a recognized interprofessional activity that will be approved for IPE credits.
Social Committee Member Role Description & Expectations:
- As a member, you will work with the IPHSA VP Social Rep to plan, coordinate, and promote a minimum of 3 social events: post Year 1 Event social; pre holiday/pre exam social; perhaps a welcome back social in the new year; a social during Pain Week.
- Each member will have the opportunity to demonstrate teamwork skills and an ability to work collaboratively with students in other health professions.
- Help in brainstorming and generating ideas for social events (within the IPHSA budget) that will appeal to large numbers of students from different health professions.
- Provide administrative support as needed

Education
Are you interested in developing interprofessional learning opportunities for students within the 13 healthcare professions represented by IPHSA? This is an exciting opportunity to work with IPHSA’s VP of Education, get creative and generate ideas for interprofessional learning while earning CCR eligibility. The successful candidates will work closely with the Vice President of Education of IPHSA. The committee will be led by IPHSA’s VP Education and is a recognized interprofessional activity that will be approved for IPE credits.
Education Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
Time commitment: meet once a month for two hours (in person or over Skype) more frequent meetings may be needed ramping up to an event. Students must attend meetings and electives to be eligible for IPE credit
Education Committee Member Role & Descriptions:
- Attend agreed upon meeting dates
- Contribute by generating ideas for IPHSA Education electives
- Help to develop electives determined to promote IPHSA objectives
- Help run IPHSA IPE electives (IPHSA Orientation & IPHSA Symposium)
- Provide administrative support as needed
